TRAILS POST
Trail Master program begins to pay off

By Jerry Fruth

AERC is now beginning to see the results from our Trail Masters program. Our land managers are starting to take advantage of our experience at trail preservation.

For 2007, Trail Masters who want to become certified instructors will have the opportunity for training. We have two slots left open in our first instructor class. If you are a Trail Master and are interested in becoming an instructor let Terry Silver know. Her e-mail is Turquoisehorses@aol.com.

In addition to our instructor class we will be having equipment classes available. Again, if you are a Trail Master, let us know if you want to participate in an equipment class. Each class will be tailored to regional trail issues.

By having certified Trail Master instructors placed around the country we will be able to expand our opportunities for more instruction to more riders each year.

The mix of having land managers and endurance riders in a class seems to be a real hit. Quality instruction on a regional basis, working with our land managers on a regional basis -- it all ties together.

AERC is rapidly becoming the premier trail preservation organization in the U.S. Thank a board member for their support of this program the next time you speak with one. Remember: All you need is a horse and a trail.
