AERC VICE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Thanks, AERC family!

By Susan Kasemeyer, AERC Vice President

As I started writing this "next-to-last" column, I thought I would look back at my first one last year and see if I stayed within the guidelines I gave myself. I was struck by one paragraph where I wrote that I thought the primary reason I loved this sport was the people involved. I felt we were one big family. I will now add that this is my feeling doubled these days.

I assume you noticed that I had a guest writer last month . . . my fellow director, Duane Barnett. The reason was that I was extremely involved with health issues with my "do-it-yourself" husband Don. The cards, calls, emails and letters I have received from my endurance family have been overwhelming. I have tried to send short thank yous but I am sure I have missed some folks so I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all. Your support has helped me more than I can ever express.

Because Don needs all my attention now, I decided not to run again for vice president. I am positive that whomever gets elected will do a great job and I will give the new VP any help I can. I am staying on as Southeast Region director since the Southeast branch of the family have told me they want me to. I can do most of my duties from home.

I hope to make the AERC convention but that decision has not been made yet. If I do, I hope to see many of you there so I can tell you face to face what this endurance family means to me.

Hug your loved ones who live with you and send imaginary hugs to all the other folks who share our sport.
