JUNIOR NEWS
Just for juniors at the AERC convention
By Kirsten Kimbler
This year at the AERC convention there was a lot going on for the juniors! Since my favorite part of the day is eating, this year we had pizza for everyone who attended the Junior Committee meeting. (I think the adults loved the pizza too.) We also had a junior activities fundraiser this year! We sold AERC "To Finish is to Win" rubber bracelets. I would like to thank everyone who bought a bracelet and those who helped sell them. We have a few left -- if you are interested, please contact me.
We also had a lot of other fun activities! We had a "hangout" where the kids could come watch horse movies, color or just hang out with other juniors.
Juniors were able to express their artistic ability in the coloring contest, and test their equine knowledge in a hippology contest. We also had a scavenger hunt, where the juniors went around to various vendors, finding items and asking questions. Our contest results are listed below. I know that everyone had a blast and I canŐt wait for the next AERC convention!
Coloring contest
5 & under: Bryce (1st) and Forrest Wells (2nd) won stuffed horses
6-9: Nathan Bradley (1st), Elijah (2nd) and Olivia Wagner (3rd) won stuffed horses
10-16: Kadee Felton (1st), Sydney Johnson (2nd) and Emily Bradley (3rd) won AERC bracelets
Hippology contest (15 entrants)
Sydney Johnson (1st) won a saddle cleaning kit donated by SR Saddles. Allie Smart (2nd) won an AERC bracelet.
Scavenger hunt (22 participants)
Sydney Johnson and Devin Lewis (1st) won a saddle pad donated by Specialized Saddles.
A special thanks to all the vendor participation in our scavenger hunt and all the great prizes donated to make this year's convention "Just for Juniors" a huge success.
